Project Description

ARGANS Limited, has delivered under the ESA Launchpad Initiative a methodology that uses a range of EO sensors to observe changes to characteristics of UK salt-marsh ecosystems. This has been completed at a range of temporal scales including: historical, annual, seasonal, and present-day. Land cover classification, employing machine learning technology, and a change detection analysis were employed over the study site, Hurst Castle, to evaluate the effectiveness of differing spatial resolution EO sensors.

This study provided evidence that EO techniques can be used to provide viable information regarding realignment opportunities for salt-marsh ecosystems to enhance coastal protection.
